Catalytic combustion
Catalytic combustion is a purification method that uses a catalyst to oxidize and decompose combustible substances in exhaust gases at a lower temperature. Therefore, catalytic combustion is also known as catalytic chemical conversion. As the catalyst accelerates the course of oxidation and decomposition, most hydrocarbons can be oxidized completely by catalyst at a temperature of 300~450℃.
Compared with thermal combustion method, catalytic combustion requires less auxiliary fuel, lower energy consumption and smaller size of equipment and facilities. However, the promotion and application of this method in industrial processes is hampered by problems such as poisoning of the catalyst used, replacement of the catalytic bed and high cleaning costs.
